Born and educated in Adelaide, Prudence and Maryleigh are based in Sydney, where for over 10 years they have been performing in recitals, concerts, soirees and recordings.  With this extensive repertoire and experience they can offer a huge range of programs for various occasions.  Our repertoire includes works by:

Bach, Barber, Bellini, Berg, Berlioz, Brahms, Brambilla, Britten, Colbran, Cesti, Debussy, Donizetti, Duparc, Falla, Fauré, Gagliano, Granados, Grieg, Gurney, Handel, Mahler, Malibran, Mozart, Monteverdi, Poulenc, Purcell, Quilter, Ravel, Scarlatti, Schoenberg, Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, Richard Strauss, Verdi, Weill, Wolf and others.

In 2008, Prudence and Maryleigh performed a major work by Schoenberg at the inaugural Conference of Accompanists and Associate Artists in Adelaide. The work was Fünfzehn Gedichte aus ‘Das Buch der hängenden Gärten’, a cycle of fifteen songs to the poetry of Stefan George. Composed in 1908, this ‘atonal’ work reflects the expressionist movement of the era and demonstrates the potential of voice-piano combinations.

Engagements in 2009 included full length recitals in Sydney and Adelaide (to raise funds for the Adelaide Eisteddfod Society) entitled Reflections of Nancy Thomas, featuring the repertoire of the celebrated English contralto. The programs included Dvorak’s famous Gypsy Songs, Op. 55, performed in a new English version devised by Prudence.

On August 1st, 2010, we presented the recital, Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness at St John’s Uniting Church, including songs by Handel, Beethoven, Brahms, Barber and Burleigh.

In 2011 we presented two recitals, Robert, Clara & Johannes—Love & Friendship, in June, and Sweeter than Roses in September. In 2012, our recitals were A Tribute to Kathleen Ferrier, in June, and Youth and Love, in August. In 2014, we performed A Winter Romance. Engagements in 2014 include Love and Loss  in March for Art Song Canberra.
